The tables containing data on deaths registered for the weeks up to week ending 25 July 2025 were released at 9.30am today.

Date of Registration
• The provisional number of total deaths registered in Northern Ireland in the week ending 25 July (week 30) was 348. Please note this total may have been impacted by registration office closures from the previous week.
• The number of expected deaths for week 30 was estimated at 346, using the methodology based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for week 30 was estimated at 2.
• For the week ending 25 July 2025, the provisional number of deaths was 180 for males and 168 for females.
• The number of expected deaths was estimated at 175 for males and 171 for females, using the current methodology, based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for the same week, was estimated at 5 for males and -3 for females, using the current method.
• For 2025, by 25 July, 50.7% of deaths were males and 49.3% were females. Over two-thirds (66.5%) of deaths were in the 75 years and over age group.
• In 2025, by 25 July, there have been 10,513 deaths registered. 4,906 (46.7%) of these took place in hospital, 1,808 (17.2%) in care homes and 3,799 (36.1%) at residential addresses, hospices, or other locations.
• The number of deaths mentioning flu and/or pneumonia on the death certificate registered in week 30 2025 totalled 65, bringing the total for 2025 so far to 1,965.
