The tables containing data on deaths registered for the weeks up to week ending 10 October 2025 were released at 9.30am today.

Date of registration
- The provisional number of total deaths registered in Northern Ireland in the week ending 10 October (week 41) was 344, 34 more than the previous week (310).
- The number of expected deaths for week 41 was estimated at 343, using the methodology based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for week 41 was estimated at 1.
- For the week ending 10 October 2025, the provisional number of deaths was 189 for males and 155 for females.
- The number of expected deaths was estimated at 174 for males and 168 for females, using the current methodology, based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for the same week, was estimated at 15 for males and -13 for females, using the current method.
- For 2025, by 10 October, 51.1% of deaths were males and 48.9% were females. Approximately two-thirds (66.0%) of deaths were in the 75 years and over age group.
- In 2025, by 10 October, there have been 14,013 deaths registered. 6,558 (46.8%) of these took place in hospital, 2,382 (17.0%) in care homes and 5,073 (36.2%) at residential addresses, hospices, or other locations.
- The number of deaths mentioning flu and/or pneumonia on the death certificate registered in week 41 2025 totalled 57, bringing the total for 2025 so far to 2,516.

- The provisional number of deaths occurring in the week ending 10 October (including those registered up to and including 15 October 2025) was 271.
