The tables containing data on deaths registered for the weeks up to week ending 31 October 2025 were released at 9.30am today.

Date of registration
- The provisional number of total deaths registered in Northern Ireland in the week ending 31 October (week 44) was 322, 39 more than the previous week (283).
- The number of expected deaths for week 44 was estimated at 387, using the methodology based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for week 44 was estimated at -65.
- For the week ending 31 October 2025, the provisional number of deaths was 160 for males and 162 for females.
- The number of expected deaths was estimated at 197 for males and 190 for females, using the current methodology, based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for the same week, was estimated at -37 for males and -28 for females, using the current method.
- For 2025, by 31 October, 51.0% of deaths were males and 49.0% were females. Approximately two-thirds (66.3%) of deaths were in the 75 years and over age group.
- In 2025, by 31 October, there have been 14,940 deaths registered. 6,974 (46.7%) of these took place in hospital, 2,557 (17.1%) in care homes and 5,409 (36.2%) at residential addresses, hospices, or other locations.
- The number of deaths mentioning flu and/or pneumonia on the death certificate registered in week 44 2025 totalled 59, bringing the total for 2025 so far to 2,670.

- The provisional number of deaths occurring in the week ending 31 October (including those registered up to and including 5 November 2025) was 255.
