Covid-19 deaths and equality – November 2021

Date published: 29 November 2022

Statistics: Cause of Death,  Covid-19 related deaths,  Covid-19 deaths and equality
Research and support: Northern Ireland Longitudinal Study (NILS),  NISRA-led Research

Analyses of equality group, health and socio-demographic characteristics of Covid-19 deaths in Northern Ireland, March 2020 to November 2021.

Update of an earlier report that covered the period up to September 2020. For both Covid-19 and non-Covid 19 deaths during the first wave of the pandemic in Northern Ireland, this research:

  • assesses socio-demographic and self-reported health associations;
  • calculates age-standardised mortality rates by self-reported disability in 2020 and 2021; and
  • undertakes statistical modelling to examine how Covid-19 mortality risk in 2020 and 2021 differs by “disability”.
