New accredited official statistics published today by NISRA statisticians in the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs reveal significant growth in Northern Ireland's food and drinks processing sector for 2022.
Key findings:
- Total gross turnover increased by 11.0% to £6,516 million in 2022
- Provisional estimates suggest further growth of 9.4% in 2023, reaching £7,128 million
- Great Britain remains the largest market, accounting for 48.5% of total sales (£337.9m increase)
- Sales increased in four of the five broad markets, with only the Rest of the World showing a decrease (-£91.8m)
