Quarterly Employment Survey (QES) latest results were published 10 June 2025.
The survey date for Quarter 1 was 3 March 2025.
Latest results
- Latest estimates show the number of seasonally adjusted employee jobs reached a new series high of 840,750 in March 2025. This was an increase of +8,070 jobs (+1.0%) over the quarter and an increase of +17,480 jobs (+2.1%) over the year from March 2024.
- Quarterly increases in employee jobs were seen within the manufacturing (+560 jobs), construction (+1,570 jobs) and services (+6,230 jobs) sectors. Employee jobs decreased over the quarter within the other industry sector (-290 jobs).
- There were increases in employee jobs over the year within the manufacturing (+1,740 jobs), construction (+2,700 jobs) and services (+13,300 jobs) sectors. Employee jobs decreased over the year within the other industry sector (-260 jobs).
- Public sector jobs increased over the quarter (+600 jobs) and increased over the year (+1,540 jobs) reaching a series high of 228,240 jobs.
- Private sector jobs increased over the quarter (+6,890 jobs) and the year (+15,840 jobs) reaching a series high of 611,830 jobs.
