Northern Ireland Cancer Waiting Times Quarter Ending June 2025

New accredited official statistics published today by NISRA statisticians in the Department of Health present information on the waiting times for patients accessing cancer services at hospitals in Northern Ireland. This information reports on the performance of health and social care (HSC) trusts against the ministerial target in Northern Ireland.
Key findings:
Patients Starting Treatment Following a Decision to Treat (31 Day Target)
• In the quarter ending June 2025, 2,607 patients started their first definitive treatment, 5.0% (125) more than in the previous quarter (2,482).
• 87.9% (2,291) of those patients started treatment within 31 days of a decision to treat, compared with 88.2% (2,190) in the previous quarter.
Patients Starting Treatment Following an Urgent GP Referral (62 Day Target)
• In the quarter ending June 2025, 1,239 patients started their first definitive treatment, 1.7% (22) fewer than in the previous quarter (1,261).
• 32.5% (403) of those patients started treatment within 62 days, compared with 33.9% (428) in the previous quarter.
