Finance Minister John O’Dowd has welcomed the launch of the Northern Ireland Statistics Research Agency (NISRA) Corporate Plan 2025-29

Commenting on the launch Minister O’Dowd said: “Statistics and analysis help us to understand the world we live in. The information provided by NISRA statisticians inform the decisions we make as policy makers affecting all area of people’s lives including healthcare, education provision and economic investment.

“Within government we must adapt quickly to changing trends to deliver for our citizens and this requires the support of the very best statistics, analysis and research.  The new NISRA Corporate Plan is an ambitious plan which highlights the importance of using joined-up data and analytics to find solutions to joined-up policy problems. It challenges government to make the best possible use of data and to work together to think creatively about how we plan services and how we design policies.”

Philip Wales, NISRA Chief Executive & Registrar General added: “Our plan reflects the rapidly changing environment for analytical services in modern government.

“It shows how our data collection and production processes are being reshaped by new sources of data and new digital tools. It sets out how we will innovate to deliver new insights on our economy, population and society. And it highlights our commitment to using data to help to improve outcomes for people living here.

“NISRA is here to help policy makers with their analytical, statistical and research needs. We want to enable policy and decision makers to make the best possible decisions for the public good.”
