Domestic Abuse Incidents in Northern Ireland Fall by 9%

New official statistics published today by NISRA statisticians in the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) show decrease in domestic abuse incidents and crimes for year ending 31st March 2025

Key findings:
- There were 29,751 domestic abuse incidents recorded in Northern Ireland, a decrease of 3,012 (-9.2%) compared to the previous 12 months
- Domestic abuse crimes fell to 18,393, a decrease of 1,547 (-7.8%) from the previous year
- Six domestic abuse homicides were recorded, compared with three in the previous 12 months - all six victims were female
- Violence against the person offences saw the largest volume decrease, falling by 1,163 (-7.5%)
- All eleven policing districts across Northern Ireland showed decreases in both domestic abuse incidents and crimes
- There were 15 domestic abuse incidents and 10 domestic abuse crimes per 1,000 population
