Decreasing number of employment vacancies notified to the Department for Communities

New official statistics published today by NISRA statisticians in the Department for Communities present Employment Vacancies Notified to the Department for Communities in the 2024/25 financial year.
Key findings:
- There were 39,592 employment vacancies notified to the Department for Communities in 2024/25. This represents a 20% decline from the previous year.
- 66% of the notified vacancies were for full-time positions, 28% were for part-time positions and 6% were for casual positions.
- Belfast was the Local Government District with the highest number of vacancies notified to the Department while Mid Ulster had the lowest number of vacancies notified.
- The most frequently notified occupation types for vacancies were ‘Caring, Leisure and Other Service Occupations’ with 31% of notified vacancies, ‘Elementary Occupations’ with 15% and ‘Process, Plant and Machine Operatives’ with11%.
- The industry type with the largest number of notified vacancies was ‘Administrative and Support Service’ accounting for 33% of vacancies, followed by ‘Human Health and Social Work’ with 25% and ‘Other Services’ with 11% of vacancies notified.
