New accredited official statistics published today by NISRA statisticians in the Department of Health present information on urgent and emergency care in Northern Ireland hospitals in 2024/25. They also provide comparisons with the previous year and five-year trends.
Key points:
During 2024/25,
- 802,495 patients physically attended all urgent and emergency care services;
- 764,720 patients attended an ED and 190,462 calls / attendances were received by PhoneFirst and Urgent Care Centre services;
- 45.5% of patients during 2024/25 were treated and discharged or admitted within 4 hours;
- 60.5% of patients attending EDs in 2024/25 commenced their treatment within 2 hours of being triaged;
- The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS) answered 232,147 calls and attended 173,695 incidents.
