84,004 detections for speeding or running a red light in 2024

New official statistics published today by NISRA statisticians in the PSNI present the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership 2024 Annual Report.
Key findings:
- A total of 84,004 detections were made by the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership (NI RSP) in 2024, either for speeding or running a red light. This is the highest number of detections recorded in a calendar year since the scheme began.
- There was a 16% increase on the number of detections when compared with 2023 (72,354).
- The highest speed recorded by RSP in 2024 was 119mph.
- Over half (53%) of all drivers detected for speeding by the NI RSP in 2024 completed a speed awareness course.
