- In Quarter 4 2023 the total volume of construction output increased by 0.8%, decreased by 1.4% over the year and increased by 4.9% on a rolling four quarters basis.
- In Quarter 4 2023, construction output has increased in four of the five most recent quarters. The series also saw the fourth consecutive quarter of annualised growth in this period.
- Construction output is 6.1% above the pre-pandemic level seen in Quarter 4 2019 and is 56.4% above the series low seen in Quarter 2 2020.
- The increase in overall output seen in Quarter 4 2023 from the previous quarter was driven by an increase within New Work (0.2%). This was offset by a decrease in Repair and Maintenance (2.1%).
- In Quarter 4 2023, both the Infrastructure (1.6%) and the Other Work (2.0%) subsectors increased. However, the Housing subsector decreased (6.6%) over the quarter.
