Special Assessment of the 2011 Censuses in the UK

Further information on the reviews carried out by the UK Statistics Authority to assess compliance with the Code of Practice for Official Statistics.

The UK Statistics Authority are responsible for assessing the quality of Official Statistics. The Authority decided to conduct a joint assessment of the three Census operations in England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The assessment of the 2011 Census was conducted in three phases.

Phase I

The phase I assessment was published on 8 March 2010 as report number 28

A document detailing the UK response to the phase I assessment is available to download.

Phase II

The phase II assessment was published on 30 June 2011 as report number 115

NISRA's response to the phase II requirements is available to download.

Phase III

The phase III assessment was published on 26 November 2015 as report number 318.
