PxStat definitions

Provisional Statistics

Provisional statistics are preliminary statistics that may not yet be complete or fully validated. While provisional statistics provide an indication of what the final statistics are likely to be, they are always subject to change as information continues to be collected and analysed. Provisional statistics are not final and must always be used with the understanding that they may change as the data becomes more complete.

Experimental statistics

Experimental statistics are a subset of newly developed or innovative official statistics that are undergoing evaluation. Experimental statistics are developed under the guidance of the Senior Statistician or Lead Official for Statistics. They are published to involve users and stakeholders at an early stage in assessing their suitability and quality.

Archived statistics

Some NISRA Data Portal tables are categorised as Archived.  An Archived table is one that is no longer being updated by NISRA.  The data in this table is historical but is still available to users.
