Current publication - Broad Economy Sales & Exports Statistics

Date published: 11 December 2024

Statistics: NI Economic Trade
Research and support: Official Statistics

Northern Ireland Economic Trade Statistics 2023, published 11 December 2024.

In December 2022 the name of the data series and publication was changed to better represent the breadth of trade data published. Therefore, the Broad Economy Sales and Exports Statistics (BESES) series is now called the Northern Ireland Economic Trade Statistics (NIETS).

The Annual Business Inquiry (ABI) form, through which the Northern Ireland Economic Trade Statistics (NIETS) are captured, is usually issued to businesses in early February each year, with results published in December of the same year. This year, however, the introduction of a new data collection system delayed the survey’s launch by approximately four months. As a result, the publication of the ABI and NIETS results for the 2024 survey year will be postponed until Wednesday 11 March 2026. This revised timeline allows additional time to receive a sufficient number of returns to ensure a robust response rate, and to complete the necessary processing to bring data clearance levels up to expected standards.
