Census 2021 Census Quality Survey

Purpose

The CQS was conducted to assess the accuracy and reliability of responses provided in the 2021 Census in Northern Ireland. It aimed to measure how well the public understood and answered the census questions.

Methodology

  • Conducted in October 2021, seven months after census day (21 March 2021).
  • Targeted a random sample of 2,500 households that had completed the census online.
  • Achieved a 60.4% response rate, with 1,511 households and 3,204 individuals included in the final analysis.
  • Responses were compared to original census data using agreement rates.
