Staff profile - Nicole Beck

Assistant Statistician, Population Statistics Team

Education

Photo of Statistician Nicole

Before my degree I had no experience in data and coding. I studied at Queen’s University Belfast and graduated with a First Class Honours in BSc Politics with Quantitative Methods.

In hindsight, adding quantitative methods in my second year was beneficial when applying to be a statistician, as it provided me with experience in SPSS and STATA which allowed me to easily pick up on other coding languages in work such as SQL and R.

Year joined NISRA

I joined NISRA as an assistant Statistician on the 18th of March 2025.

Career Progression

I see career progression not just as moving upwards, but also moving across to different areas to build a broader set of skills.
