NISRA is changing the way we collect and record addresses for properties in Northern Ireland for our address register. We’ve been using new methods and new information sources to develop and update our address register. We have been checking our register in the office but we now need to check the accuracy of that work on the ground in preparation for the 2021 Census.
The NISRA address register contains a list of Northern Ireland addresses derived from data supplied by a range of public bodies. During October 2017 NISRA staff will be checking the information we hold in a small number of areas selected at random. This check will involve our staff carrying out a visual check of properties to verify that the address details we hold are correct. We are not concerned with who lives at an address but simply whether the address characteristics match those that we hold. Staff will not be calling at addresses.
