The Winter Mortality report (formerly known as Excess Winter Mortality) for 2024/25 was released this morning.

There were 6,291 deaths in Northern Ireland in the four months of winter 2024/25 (December to March). Comparing this with the average for the two adjacent 4-month periods, there was an estimated seasonal increase of 1,000 deaths during this time.
