New official statistics published today by NISRA statisticians in the Department for Communities present information on employment vacancies during quarter one (April to June) 2026/27.
Key findings
- There were 7,503 vacancies notified to the Department for Communities, a decrease of 1,151 (13%) from the previous quarter.
- There were 4,802 full-time vacancies (64%), 2,243 part-time vacancies (30%) and 458 casual vacancies (6%).
- 'Caring, Leisure and Other Service Occupations' was the most frequently notified occupation type. It accounted for 2,572 vacancies, or 34% of all vacancies.
- 'Human Health and Social Work' was the industry with the largest number of notified vacancies, accounting for 2,473 vacancies (33%). This was followed by 'Administrative and Support Service', with 2,282 vacancies (30%).
- Foyle had the largest number of vacancies across Jobs and Benefits Offices, with 606 vacancies (8%). This was followed by Lisburn with 604 (8%), Shaftesbury Square with 598 (8%), Antrim with 379 (5%) and Holywood Road with 371 (5%).
- There were 2,333 vacancies (31%) in the most deprived 20% of areas in Northern Ireland.
