Marriages, Divorces and Civil Partnerships Reports
Since 2004 NISRA have published provisional marriage and divorce statistics on an annual basis. The most recent release is based on 2011 data.
The Civil Partnership Act came into force in December 2005, enabling same-sex couples to obtain legal recognition
of their relationship. From 2006 onwards the reports include information on civil partnerships and civil partnership dissolutions.
The Marriages, Divorces and Civil Partnerships reports include trends in the overall number of registrations as well as information relating to the type of ceremony, place of marriage or civil partnership and details about the partners. The tables which are published in the report are also available in Excel format for more recent years.
