Mid-Year Population Estimates
Mid-year population estimates relate to the population on 30th June each year. Using the cohort component methodology,
the population is aged on each year with an adjustment made for births, deaths and migration since the previous year.
Updated Population Estimates 2001-2011
As of 30th April 2013: The mid-2001 to mid-2011 population estimates at the Northern Ireland level have now been revised to take into account the 2011 Census results. These Northern Ireland level estimates are available below.
Sub-national population estimates are currently still based on the 2001 Census. Revised mid-2001 to mid-2011 population estimates at sub-national level (Local Government District (LGD), NUTSIII areas, Health Trusts (HSCT), Health Boards (HSSB) and Education & Library Boards (ELB)) are planned for June/July 2013.
Mid-2012 population estimates, based on the 2011 Census, are also planned to be released at this time.
