Mid-year Population Estimates

The most recently published population estimates relate to mid-2010 and are available for Northern Ireland as a whole, and by Local Government District (LGD), NUTSIII areas, Health Trusts (HSCT), Health Boards (HSSB) and Education & Library Boards (ELB).

Mid-year Population Estimates relate to the population on 30th June each year. Using the cohort component methodology, the population is aged on each year with an adjustment made for births, deaths and migration since the previous year. 2010 estimates are based on the 2001 Census.
First results from the 2011 Census are due to be published in 2012.
