Population Estimates - Persons aged 85 and over
The ageing of the population has led to increased demand for more detailed population estimates of older people. NISRA have used an international recognised methodology to produce detailed estimates of the numbers of people aged 85 and over, by sex and age, for 2002 - 2010. Population projections are available for 2011-2031.
Please note: The survivorship rate methodology used in these estimates mean that there are minor differences for the period 2002 to 2009 compared to previous years' estimates.
