Civil Partnerships
The Civil Partnership Act came into force in December 2005, enabling same-sex couples to obtain legal recognition of their relationship.
Tables below include historical data for the number of civil partnerships registered in Northern Ireland since 2005. More detailed finalised statistics from the Registrar General Annual Report for 2011 which includes data by age of partners, place of civil partnership and geographical area are also available.
Further provisional civil partnership statistics for more recent years are available from the Marriages, Divorces and Civil Partnerships Statistical Bulletin and the Registrar General Quarterly Reports.
