Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure 2010 results

NISRA released the Northern Ireland Multiple Deprivation Measure (NIMDM) 2010 results on 31st March 2010.  The Super Output Area level results are available in spreadsheet form. Also available are maps of the initial multiple deprivation measure and individual domains. A press release is available for download. A list of the indicators used in the updated deprivation measure is also available.

The NIMDM is a combination of seven types or 'domains' of deprivation weighted as follows:

Income Deprivation 25%
Employment Deprivation 25%
Health Deprivation and Disability 15%
Education, Skills and Training Deprivation 15%
Proximity to Services 10%
Living Environment 5%
Crime and Disorder 5%

52 indicators mostly relating to the period 2007-2009 make up the Multiple Deprivation Measure. The report including more detailed and summary measures will be published in the Summer. Until publication of the final report the NIMDM 2005 remains the official measure of spatial deprivation in Northern Ireland. For more detail regarding the update process see the update to NIMDM 2005 webpage.

NIMDM 2010 interactive maps are available. Similarly small area population estimate interactive maps are available, see the small area population estimates website for further detail including background information and press release.
