2011 Census Output ProspectusConsultation on the proposed outputs for the 2011 Census in Northern Ireland is ongoing. Below are lists of the proposed output tables which are being developed. These take into account comparability with the 2001 Census outputs and also changes which have been made to the Census questionnaire since 2001.This prospectus sets out the release plans for the Northern Ireland (NI) 2011 Census statistics. It describes the statistics that the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) will be releasing, and lays out when NISRA intends to publish them. The Census will answer questions from both novice users and experienced analysts. Because of the breadth and depth of census data, the 2011 Census statistics are being released in stages. What is happening in England, Wales and Scotland Simultaneous but separate censuses took place in England and Wales, run by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), and Scotland, run by National Records Scotland (NRS). ONS released their prospectus on 30th March 2012 and NRS are due to release their’s in May 2012. Please note that ONS is responsible for the publication of UK statistics (compiling comparable statistics from the UK statistical agencies above). The ONS prospectus covers the publication, analysis and dissemination of UK statistics. What the Northern Ireland statistics will show Questionnaires were received back from households in spring 2011, containing information about the population such as household types, demographic characteristics, and qualifications. The Northern Ireland 2011 Census statistics will provide a detailed snapshot of the population of Northern Ireland, and through comparison will reveal changes in society since the last census in 2001.
