Population Censuses were held in Northern Ireland, England and Wales and
Scotland on 29 April 2001. In Northern Ireland the Census was carried out by the
Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency. This prospectus describes how
and when the Northern Ireland results will be released.
The Census is a
count of all people and households in Northern Ireland. It provides essential
statistical information, informing the planning and funding of public services,
including health, education and transport. Results also support research and
business. Information will be available from the Northern Ireland level down to
small geographical areas.
This prospectus covers the scope and phasing of
the results. There are links to supplementary information ranging from the
geographical base of the Census to detailed outlines of tables. It will be
updated regularly and in time will become a catalogue with links to actual
results.
